Time to Shut Down the Porn Industry for Good

The porn industry just ended its self-imposed shut down but one must wonder why. The industry stopped shooting films after four porn stars tested positive for HIV in the last month. However, HIV is only one of many health problems common to the industry. Others include chlamydia, gonorrhea, and herpes. And though these infections often leave permanent damage, they are but a small part of the devastation pornography brings.

The Ugly, Unknown Story Behind Roe v. Wade

It’s not often that I agree with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but she was right for more reasons than she probably realized when she said last year that the Supreme Court’s 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade went “too far, too fast.”

The Pope Said What?

I took the time to research more facts to ensure I wouldn’t make comments without verifying them. Pope Francis agreed to a series of interviews with Catholic journalists back in August. America Magazine published the interview in its entirety in the English translation. After reading the interview it became clear to me that The New York Times took what the pope said out of context. No one should be really surprised.

What Does it Really Mean to “Establish” Religion?

The First Amendment of the Constitution states that “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion.” Note it does not say that Congress shall prevent public acknowledgement or accommodation of religion, nor does it say that Congress shall not recognize religion in public or prohibit public religious expression. It uses the word “establishment.” So what does it mean to “establish” religion, and why is it prohibited in the Constitution?

US families make less than they did in 1989

The Census Bureau’s poverty report issued earlier this week included some income statistics that were a bummer for middle-class families hoping for a return of the good old days of prosperity. Turns out that even in those days, families were bringing in roughly the same as now.

We know America was great once so something in its past must have been right. But, the paradigm changed in our values and morals, which has drastically changed the character of our beloved country.

Student Indoctrination

The new college academic year has begun, and unfortunately, so has student indoctrination. Let’s look at some of it.

Minimum Wage Madness

Political crusades for raising the minimum wage are back again. Advocates of minimum wage laws often give themselves credit for being more “compassionate” towards “the poor.” But they seldom bother to check what are the actual consequences of such laws.

Minimum Wage Madness: Part II

A survey of American economists found that 90 percent of them regarded minimum wage laws as increasing the rate of unemployment among low-skilled workers. Inexperience is often the problem. Only about two percent of Americans over the age of 24 earned the minimum wage.

I am not amazed at the collective indignation of the politicians and their minions in the media and the intellectuals’ reaction to Putin’s statement published in an Op-Ed in the New York Times appealing to the American people not to allow the government to strike Syria. Putin criticized Obama’s message to the nation about the role the U.S. plays as the exceptional leader of the world, as misleading the public, reckless and dangerous.

The Truth About Absolute Truth: A Concise Refutation of ‘Bumper Sticker’ Philosophy

We’ve all read those bumper-stickers which tell us to “Question Reality” yet at the same time want us to take seriously what the bumper sticker says. Some even urge the various religions of the world to “Coexist;” religions which contain completely contradictory truth claims. I’ve even read one which urged me to “Question Authority.” I assume that I am to question all authority except the “bumper sticker gods.”

America’s Christian Slaves

If you are a Christian in today’s America you are steadily losing the freedom to control where and how and for whom you will labor.

Democrats Moved to Compassion for Murdered Syrian Children, Really?

No one can negate the horrors of war or civil war. The images we have seen of Syrian children, men and women of all ages killed by chemical weapons are heartbreaking. Who is to blame, the Syrian government or the rebels? We hear conflicting reports but the blame goes to both sides. The civil war in Syria brings out the worst kind of atrocities from each side of the conflict.
